MAVERICK WETSUITS, SIM SHORTS & VIPER SWIMSKINS

Maverick wetsuits, SIM shorts and Viper swimskins are high performance garments made with top-end materials that will deteriorate more quickly than products made with cheaper materials. This is a conscious trade-off we make for ultimate performance, because cheaper & sometimes longer lasting materials often do not have the same performance characteristics. That said, here are some tips to improve your suit's longevity.

HANDLING WET OR DIRTY SUITS

  • Rinse in cold fresh water immediately after each use
  • Hang dry thoroughly (inside out for neoprene suits, because the liner absorbs more water) immediately after rinsing and do not let the suit sit wet for an extended period.
  • Do not iron or put in a washer/dryer (although swimskins can be washed in cold or warm water, delicate cycle, with mild detergent). When in doubt, follow the care instructions printed inside your garment.
  • If you soil the suit somehow you can hand wash with mild soap or use our wetsuit shampoo.

DISCOLORATION OF LYCRA SUITS OR JERSEY LINERS

  • The liner of the neoprene suits may discolor over time, just like most swimsuits. Anything that is not chlorineproof will degrade eventually with consistent use in a pool. Discoloration alone will not affect the performance of the fabric. We recommend McNett's Wetsuit Shampoo, which helps remove chlorine from lycra liners, prevent discoloration, and preserve their longevity.
  • Storing a suit wet and/or in a confined space can dramatically accelerate the effect that chlorine and other chemicals have on your suit.

WETSUIT KNICKS AND CUTS

  • Light damage such as fingernail tears and cuts is common with wetsuits and considered normal use. This is a known tradeoff for using high stretch, high performance neoprene that won't tire out your muscles during swimming. The best way to handle small cuts and tears is to apply We sell McNett's Seal Cement, which is a special type of glue formulated specifically for neoprene. This product is very effective and often leaves little trace of the original cut or tear.
